Get Started

Follow these steps to get set up and ready to run your first raffle. Start by installing the app, then set up your printer and confirm your Square payment workflow before your first live raffle.

1
Install the app and log in
Download from the Play Store, sign in and you can start selling immediately if your account is active.
2
Set up your printer
Connect your printer, install any required app and confirm you can complete a test print.
3
Confirm your Square payment method is ready
This could be Tap to Pay, a Square reader, or your normal Square terminal.

Important
Hornet Raffles does not connect directly to your Square account yet. Square and Hornet Raffles currently run as two separate systems.

Step 1 — Install App

Download the Hornet Raffles app, sign in and start selling straight away if your account is already active.
1

Download from the Play Store

The Hornet Raffles app is free to download from the Play Store.
  • Install the app on the device you will use to sell tickets.
  • You can add the direct Play Store link here later if you want one-tap access.
  • Make sure the device has a stable internet connection for first login.
2

Once the app is installed, log in using your account details.
  • If your account is active, you can start selling immediately.
  • If you cannot log in, check that your account has been activated and that your email and password are correct.
  • Complete this step on the actual device you plan to use during raffles.
3

Customise later if needed

Customisation is optional and does not need to block your launch.
  • Go to Customise App to learn how to update your organisation settings and app options.
  • You can keep moving through setup now and come back to customisation at any time.

Step 2 — Setup Printer

Before running a raffle, make sure your printer is connected and ready to print tickets.
1

Connect your printer

Turn on your printer and connect it to your raffle device using the method supported by your printer model.
  • Most setups will use Bluetooth, but some models may use USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Keep the printer charged or connected to power before a live raffle.
  • Make sure the printer is close enough to your selling device for a stable connection.
2

Install any required printer app

Some printers require a separate companion app to manage the connection or print service.
  • Install the required app for your printer if your setup needs one.
  • Complete any pairing or permission prompts before continuing.
  • You can add screenshots, model-specific notes and Play Store links here later.
3

Run a test print

Before your first raffle, confirm that a ticket prints correctly.
  • Print a test ticket and check that the text is readable.
  • Confirm the ticket length, alignment and paper feed look correct.
  • If nothing prints, check power, connection and printer settings before continuing.

Step 3 — Using Square with Hornet Raffles

This is the recommended workflow for live raffles.
1

Open Square before you start selling

Before the raffle begins, make sure your Square app, reader or terminal is charged, signed in and ready to accept payments.
  • Check your internet connection if your Square setup requires one.
  • Wake up or reconnect your reader before customers arrive.
  • Keep your charger nearby for longer raffles.
2

Sell tickets in Hornet Raffles

Use Hornet Raffles to issue ticket numbers and print tickets as normal. Hornet Raffles is your raffle and ticketing record.
  • Use the app to select the sale amount and print the ticket.
  • Keep the raffle moving quickly by following your normal ticket-selling process.
3

Process the payment in Square

After entering the sale in Hornet Raffles, take the customer's payment using Square.
  • Use Tap to Pay, a Square reader or your Square terminal.
  • Follow your standard Square prompts for card or device payment.
  • If you also accept cash, continue handling cash through your usual process.
4

Check totals after the raffle

At the end of the raffle, compare your Hornet Raffles money taken against the payments recorded in Square.
  • Your totals should generally match, allowing for any cash sales if you use a mixed payment workflow.
  • If the totals do not match, review the raffle history and your Square transactions before the next raffle.

Need help?

App access
  • If the app is installed but you cannot log in, first check that your account is active.
  • Questions about account access and Hornet Raffles login should come to Hornet Raffles support.
Printer support
  • Printer app installation, pairing and hardware setup can be documented here as you finalise your supported models.
  • Use this section later for screenshots, Play Store links and troubleshooting notes.
Square support
  • Account, verification and banking issues should go directly to Square support.
  • Reader pairing, Tap to Pay and hardware issues should also go to Square support.

Best practice

Keep it simple during busy periods
Install the app, confirm printing works, then use Hornet Raffles for the raffle and Square for the payment. Treat them as separate steps each time and your team will stay consistent.
